What Situation Is Each Best For? – Dyson V11 vs V10

Dyson V11 Dyson V10
Time is of the essence when you are using a cordless vacuum. It will be helpful if you know exactly how much time you have left. You will agree that this can significantly affect the way you work.

The Dyson V11 has a screen at the base of the handle, facing you, that lets you see the runtime you have left. We’ll talk more on that later.

You will not have to wait 4.5 hours to recharge the V10 like you would the V11. Furthermore, the V10 is about 1 pound lighter than the V11.
The V11 has a brush head that is an improvement to the Torque Drive on the V10. This one comes with sensors that detect floor types.

When the brush head notices that it is on a carpet, it adjusts accordingly. You will find out the details in a later section.

More Situational Comparison – Dyson V11 vs V10

Dyson V11 Dyson V10
The Dyson V11 as expected has more suction than the V10. As you know, suction was one of the major strengths of the V10 and the V11 surpassed that by a significant margin.

Tests show that the V11 achieved a suction power of 111 inches of water lift. In plain words, that is borderline ridiculous power from a cordless vacuum.

We are yet to find an upright vacuum that can pull off such numbers. If you ask us, Dyson is the only brand we expected can make cordless vacuums that will bully uprights.

Here is another way the V10 will still attract you, it does not cost as much as the V11. So, you can still get the Dyson awesomeness without breaking the bank.

Common Features – Dyson V11 vs V10

It should not come as any surprise that these two cordless vacuums have a lot in common. They are from the same brand; they are the same type of vacuum, and one is the direct predecessor of the other.

Appearance

You will have a hard time telling these two apart. They have the same design and similar color scheme.

When you look a little closer, you will notice that the V10 is slightly bulkier than the V11. Furthermore, the V11 is a little curvier and has a sleeker design.

Then there is the display that will make the difference a little more apparent. Apart from these, almost everything else is in the same position and has the same appearance. The V11 surely continues the aesthetic debonair on Dyson cordless vacuums.

Washable HEPA Filters

Dyson V11 Torque Drive Cordless Vacuum Cleaner, BlueThe filter in a vacuum cleaner is quite important especially if you are asthmatic or allergic.

This is what will help the vacuum keep in the dust and allergens. Hence protect you from inhaling them.

Both cordless vacuums have HEPA filters located at the base of the dust cup.

This is the highest standard of filter found in a vacuum cleaner. It traps 99.97% of dust and allergens present in the air that passes through it.

That’s not all, this filter can trap contaminants as small as 0.3 microns. To make it all easier to understand, let us use an example.

The diameter of an average human hair is about 50 microns. Now, do the comparison!

You can rest assured whichever of these vacuums you go for, it will fight battles you cannot see on your behalf.

Another thing the filters in these vacuums have going for them is that they are washable. You can wash it clean when it is clogged, let it air dry, and then use it again.

The benefit that comes with this is that you will not need to buy filters as often as you would if it were not reusable.  How’s that for a money saver?

Power

Dyson’s cordless vacuums came into prominence when they continuously broke the accepted threshold of how powerful cordless vacuums can get.

The Dyson V10 until now, by rating, used to be the most powerful cordless vacuum around. It has a suction power of 84 inches of water lift (which is still higher than some uprights).

The airflow was at about 41 cfm at the wand and 33 cfm at the brush head. These ratings were measured in the max mode.

Those ratings indicate some serious power from a cordless vacuum. However, when compared to the Dyson V11, it comes in as a runner up.

The V11 recorded 59 cfm of airflow at the wand and 49 cfm with the brush head on. With this kind of boundary-breaking suction power, uprights vacuums might become obsolete in the nearest future.

Battery Life

Dyson Cyclone V10 Absolute Lightweight Cordless Stick Vacuum CleanerBoth the V11 and V10 run on a lithium-ion battery. One of the ways the V10 wowed us was with its runtime. This cordless vacuum reached the hour mark which some other cordless vacuums still have not managed to achieve.

The runtime difference between these two is not so significant but if you break down the performance time, you can’t miss the improvement.

On low power, the V11 offers 74, 81, and 66 minutes of runtime if you use the crevice tool, fluffy brush roll, and the torque head respectively.

On medium power, the runtimes are 39, 40, and 43 minutes respectively using the same attachments as above.

When you go all out in the max mode, you will get 9, 14, and 8 minutes of runtime with those same tools on.

Let us do a quick round up of the runtimes on the V10 for the sake of comparison.

In the low power, you will get roughly 61, 56, and 46 minutes to work with the attachment tools mentioned above.

On the medium power setting, the runtimes are 30, 28, and 36 minutes. While the max mode offers you 5, 9, and 6.5 minutes of runtime.

Kindly note that these timings are estimates. Conducting your own tests might yield slightly different results.

In the end, whichever way you look at this, you will agree that both vacuums will give you great runtimes to tackle dirt in your home.

Dyson V11 Torque Drive Cordless Vacuum Cleaner, BlueEase of Use

You don’t want to spend as much money as you would on either of these vacuums and still find it challenging to use.

Maneuverability is something you will get out of both vacuums. They are both easy to push on the floor and they will turn quite easily as well.

Changing the attachment tools is easy as it does not require any technicalities. You just need to pull out and snap back in. Both vacuums have all the controls you need to use within reach.

They both essentially glide and lean pretty much the same way and with the same ease. They are brothers after all.

Both cordless vacuums can tilt close to the floor allowing you to reach under furniture with ease.

Still on ease of use, storing both cordless vacuums is easy as well. They both come with a dock that lets you hang the vacuum on the wall so it does not take floor space. You can charge them like that too.

Handheld

Dyson Cyclone V10 Absolute Lightweight Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner

Both the V11 and V10 can easily transform into a handheld vacuum. All it takes is to pull out the wand on both ends and attach any tool you need.

As you can guess, this brings you closer to the dirt you need to clean. It makes your vacuuming more precise.

That’s not all, this feature gives you the freedom to take vacuuming wherever you want.

You can also choose to use this vacuum for cleaning the interior of your car! You are no more tethered by a cord so you can enjoy your freedom to roam.

Attachment Tools

The V11 and V10 cordless vacuums are available in different models. You can refer to the “Comparison Table” above to see them. This gives users the freedom to choose which model best suits their needs.

The difference among the available models is the attachment tools that come with them. Some come with more than others.

So, depending on how you intend to use the vacuums, you can choose a model based on the attachment tools available with them.

As you know, attachment tools have everything to do with the versatility of a vacuum.

If you go with the Absolute model of either the V11 or the V10, you will get all the available attachments there are.

With these, you can clean different floor types, crevices, furniture, window blinds, and all the way up to the ceiling.

It is always a good idea if your vacuum cleaner can do things that you usually do for yourself. Of course not, it won’t vacuum by itself.

What it can do for you, however, is notice when it transitions from hard floors to carpets and adjusts.

Now, you won’t necessarily need to change to a higher power when vacuuming carpet.

As you can guess, this will optimize battery life and make vacuuming a bit more efficient.

Dyson V11 vs V10 – Pros Common To Both Products

Dyson V11 Dyson V10
We have heard Dyson talk about replacing corded vacuums with these cordless ones.

When you compare both types, the main advantage the corded ones have is power. As you have seen so far, Dyson has now bridged that gap.

The Dyson V11 can very well deep clean carpets more than a lot of upright vacuums.

The V11 achieved a 91% performance in low power, 98% on medium, and did 100% on high power! Incredible, right?

Same as the V11.

However, the V10 even though it did not perform as well as the V11, it still did better than some uprights.

It scored 82% on low power, 89% on medium, and 99% in max mode.

With these numbers, are you getting ready to dump the uprights too?

The V11, as expected is excellent with its cleaning performance and there is hardly anything to complain about.

On hard floors with large debris, you might have a bit of an issue but if you keep the gates on the brush head all the way open and move the brush head around a bit, you should pick everything up eventually.

Same as the V11.

Dyson V11 vs V10 – Cons Common To Both Products

Dyson V11 Dyson V10
The Dyson V11 follows the trend of all Dyson cordless vacuums. It still uses the trigger power button that you need to hold down so the vacuum can stay on. Same as the Dyson V11.

Dyson V11 vs V10 – General Feeling Among Users

Dyson V11 Dyson V10
The Dyson V11 is a fairly new cordless vacuum so not a lot of people have written reviews about it.

As we expected, a lot of those who have used it love the vacuum. Honestly, what is there not to love?

The suction power, of course, won a lot of users’ heart. The cleaning performance too had the same effect.

From fine dust on hard floors to large debris on carpets, and then hairs, the V11 picked them all up.

A user that has allergy issues praised the V10 for filtering really well. She claims that the air coming out of the vacuum is clean since she does not get reactions after vacuuming anymore.
An arthritic user was amazed at how it was for her to use this vacuum.

She was initially surprised that it weighed over 7 pounds but when she used it, she was further surprised that she did not feel all that weight on her hand.

A certain user took his time to test how the V10 performs on crevices. He claimed that his V10 cleaned up the dirt in the crevices between his tiles in just one pass!

That was on high power though. He said it took about 3 passes on low power to for the same effect.

Another user shared his experience at how easy he and his family found the vacuum to use. He mentioned that changing attachment tools was quite easy as well.

He further said the roller stopped spinning (others have complained about this too). But then it started working again later.

If this happens in your case, you can rest assured Dyson will honor its warranty.

Dyson V11 vs V10 – Bottom Line

Dyson V11 Dyson V10
The V11 has everything other cordless vacuums are dreaming of. However, it comes at a pretty steep price.

If that is not an issue for you and the extra it offers over the V10 is where your need lies, by all means, claim it.

The V10 is a great cordless vacuum by every right. It just does not have all the bells and whistles the V11 comes with. It also offers some relief in terms of cost.

If your needs are covered by the capacity of the V10, why pay for features you don’t need?
